Fifty Indispensable Poems
Fifty Indispensable Poems
Remco Campert
'Poetry is my breath,' wrote the beloved author Remco Campert. He saw himself first and foremost as a poet and left behind an impressive body of work that is light-footed and casual, intimate and personal. Fifty indispensable poems have been selected from that rich oeuvre and brought together in this edition. Together they show the moving power of Campert's poetry, which lies in an inimitable simplicity and a soft melancholy.
Remco Campert (1929-2022) was a poet, novelist and columnist. For his poetry he received the Jan Campert Prize, the PC Hooft Prize and the Gouden Ganzenveer, among others. In 2015 he was awarded the Prize of Dutch Literature. Recent publications are Dichter (collected poems), Campert complete (all stories) and Mijn dood en ik, Campert's latest collection of poems.
