Chus Pato

Poet and activist Chus Pato comes from Galicia, a capricious region in northwestern Spain. She also writes in Galician, a minority language with a rich literary tradition that is in danger of disappearing under pressure from Spanish. No wonder then that poetry is a form of resistance for her. In a raging iconoclasm, lyricism, philosophy and politics become fragmented to resist exploitation and oppression, which destroy women's lives, our common living environment, but also language itself. Pursuing independence on all fronts, Pato lets in Finisterra start writing again and again.
