Anthony Krog
' In the world of Antjie Krog, poetry is urgent and fire and anger are constants' ***** de Volkskrant
'Her poems are intimate, heartbreakingly honest and committed. There is always something at stake in her poetry. Krog closes right into the heart.' The parole
Antjie Krog has become one of the most beloved poets in the Netherlands. With Plundering she adds a new highlight to her rich oeuvre. In her latest collection, Krog struggles to write, to speak in a language and in a world full of pitfalls. It seems that the end of everything, even the end of language, is hot on her heels. Krog enters into a conversation with the reader, in which she asks herself how to live in this world and what questions we should ask ourselves. In her characteristic and always convincing way, she writes about the fragility and immortality of man. Sometimes there is a grim desperation in the poet's tone, but in the end there is always a cautious hope.
Plundering is a sober, moving, vulnerable and topical poetic statement against the backdrop of a plundered world.
