With bundles like Air Stream Land Yacht and Methodist Hatchet (Griffin Poetry Prize 2012) Canadian Ken Babstock has already caused a stir in the Anglophone poetry world. In SIGINT , included in his most recent bundle On Malice , he immerses the reader in the sinister side of the modern surveillance society through broken verse and repurposed language. Babstock examines what it means to write and live in the aftermath of history, exploring human relationships, the digital revolution, the boundaries of intimacy and communication, privacy and espionage, philosophical issues and the (im)ability of words. All this in a multitude of borrowed voices from past and present – ​​including that of Walter Benjamin's son and the ghosts that populate an old American eavesdropping station on Berlin's Teufelsberg.
